This is based on Weeks 5-8 and does not include the redundancy of granting awards for the WCC Meet when the WCC Meet is only raced in October.  November is a month that the WCC does not give out an Athlete of the Month for XC.

2nd at Notre Dame, 5th at Wisconsin 5 seconds ahead of  Kathy Kroeger Stanford who beat Tara Erdmann at Stanford by 13 seconds

Also considered Tara Erdmann LMU, Lindsey Drake Gonzaga

Miles Batty BYU

1st at Notre Dame Invite, 7th at Wisconsin 25 seconds behind Lawi Lalang who beat Trevor Dunbar by 42 seconds at Griak

Coach of the Year  Women

  • Will Guarino USD,  Torero women 2010 track results with #2 5K returner (Vargo 18:36) as 9th team in WCC for #2 5K returners have beaten SMC, Pepperdine, and Santa Clara at Stanford and Bronco
  • Ian Solof  Portland,  While redshirting Lyndy Davis, have taken 7 returners at 18:00 or better for 5K in 2010 to top 10 ranking in West
  • Helen Lehman-Winters  After losing top returners Krchova and Stolting and team still improves its chances to making NCAA Championships compared to 2010

Coach of the Year  Men

  • Rob Conner Portland, Ed Eyestone BYU  Both teams have elevated WCC to one of only 4 conferences in NCAA to have two schools in top 10

Freshman of the Year Men

  • Woody Kincaid Portland  Won Bowles Gold race as William in 24:00

Freshman of the Year Women

Sarah Darby BYU   21:39 at Wisconsin (listed as Freshman at Notre Dame, Utah State, but as Sophomore at Griak,Wisconsin, sophomore on BYU website, on roster in 2010, but no XC results in 2010)

  • Old news, but still find it amazing that Laura Suur ended up at USF after a scholarship opened up in June.  Although her profile exists, USF hasn’t updated roster to include her
